URC supports RES Brigada Eskwela Reading Haven

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) employees along with faculty members of Rosario Elementary School (RES), in Pasig City, share their smiles for the camera after a fulfilling day of classroom refurbishing.
Pupils and faculty members of Rosario Elementary School (RES) welcomed school year 2018-2019 with a big smile as they held classes in rooms repainted by Universal Robina Corporation (URC).

URC, a snack manufacturing company with a deep commitment to help develop local communities, restructured and repainted four classrooms of the Pasig-based elementary school that is home to 3,469 pupils and 130 faculty and staff.

“The four newly painted classrooms, called Reading Havens, will be the venues for our reading program that will be launched this S.Y. 2018-2019,” said RES Principal Josephine Macawile. “Our students recently took the Philippine Reading Inventory test. The results showed that 57% of RES pupils need to improvement on their reading comprehension. We hope to eradicate this through the said reading program.”

Prior to the repainting of classrooms, URC also held a project among its employees, which intended to collect recyclable items that were then sold to further fund the program.

The company behind well-known brands like C2, Great Taste, Jack ‘n Jill Chippy, Piattos, Maxx and Cloud 9 also provided school supplies to the students whose families have been affected by a recent fire incident.
